Now I know what you are thinking, what has a watch got to do with golf club fitting? Well, to be honest not much!

The other day I met a friend who bought one of these and I was so impressed I thought it would be something interesting to blog about.

There are many golf GPS devices on the market these days but none as small and convenient as this one. The Garmin Aproach S1 watch will make an excellent gift for any golfer who enjoys the game. Let’s see what it can do.

  1. Golf GPS says:

How well a GPS Golf device works depends on both the hardware and software in your hand held device. Better hardware allows your GPS to more easily find more of the 30 satellites roaming the globe to pinpoint your location.

  2. Roland Olliff says:

I have the S1 Approach but sadly, despite the sales pitch, it will not update time zones automatically. I travel several times a month between Germany and UK and it has to be set manually each time I change times zones. I spoke with Customer Support who were not much help and said ‘it not something that we guarantee’, apart from that it it a nice piece of equipment.

That is a shame, I think the product was initially geared to the US market so I can appreciate the problem you have with it. Hopefully they can provide a future update so it works properly for you.
