OptiShot Review
Previously I reviewed a different model of simulator, but, that was quite a bit more expensive than the OptiShot. As golf simulators have become so popular these days I thought I would take the time to write an OptiShot Review which is a much cheaper golf simulator but still packed with awesome features.
If you live with a golfer then the OptiShot golf simulator from Dancin Dogg (gotta love the name!) could well be the perfect Christmas present. In the following OptiShot review I will have a look at the product, see how well it works, what it is capable of doing and what other users are saying.

Optishot Swing Analysis
Firstly, the OptiShot makes use of infra red sensors to record swing measurements as you take your shot. The sensors are pinpoint accurate and can tell you important things about your club position throughout your swing. You will be able to get results for each and every shot the display screen shows the following information.
- Club head speed
- Face angle
- Swing path
- Toe/center/heel-to-face contact
- Visual feedback of each shot
You can see from these statistics that you will be able to use your existing golf clubs with the OptiShot and see what’s happening during your swing. This will enable you to analyze and improve your golf from the comfort of your own home. One of the most critical results that this simulator shows up is the face angle at impact which allows you to see if you have the clubface square when you hit the ball. Also, the club speed result can help you determine which shaft flex suits you best and you have the chance to experiment a bit and see what the differences when you swing with different flex shafts.
3D Golf Software
You can also use the OptiShot to play a simulated round of golf. The results are surprisingly accurate and with the ability to play with four other players you can have lots of fun with your golfing buddies. Also, if you live in a cold climate you can carry on playing some golf in the Winter. If you are bored at home with nothing to do why not play a few holes and keep your swing grooved!
OptiShot allows you to play some of the world’s most famous golf courses, like Torrey Pines and Big Horn Golf Club in Southern California.
The combination of sensors measuring the ball at impact and then representing that information on your screen with awesome 3D graphics make the OptiShot a truly amazing product for the price.
How Does the Optishot Work
To operate the OptiShot you will need to connect it to a computer running a minimum of Windows XP with 2GB ram. You will also need a decent 3D video card for the graphics to really come alive. You install the software and connect the swing pad to the PC as shown in the diagram below.
Please note you will need 8.5 foot or higher ceilings in the room you wish to install it to allow you to swing your clubs. This product will not work outdoors as the infrared sensors will not pick up your shot properly. You can use real golf balls (if you have a catch net), plastic or foam balls or just swing the club with no ball.

I agree Mark, this is a great system to get started with, but make sure that you understand what you are getting as most people hope that it compares with the commercial setups, but it is priced accordingly.
Hi Cory, I agree with you, this is not going to compete with far more expensive models, however, I think this is great for tuning up your swing and having some fun at home. The price is very reasonable and affordable for most.
